The Analytical Concept of Asymmetrical Dependency

Abstract In response to critiques of the ‘slavery versus freedom’ binary and its limitations, researchers at international Bonn Center for Dependency Slavery Studies ( BCDSS — www.dependency.uni-bonn.de ) University tentatively employ analytical concept ‘asymmetrical dependency’ in their investigations coercive social relations, such as slavery, debt bondage, servitude. this paper, we discuss some basic theoretical assumptions that undergird concept. outlining an approach asymmetrical dependency is grounded cultural theory, our goal provide a framework within which individual can situate projects further develop understanding phenomenon. To end, first introduce explore potential light current state research slavery studies related fields. We then conceptualize dynamic relational process chiefly praxeological methodology identify describe fundamental dynamics these relations.
